I’d drive a Prius. Come at me.

yeah it’s not really that much better

Have you driven one? If not, drive one. You’ll regret what you said.
I will say though, surprisingly roomy interior.

Are you shorter than 6 foot? Cause it ain't conducive to tall people for the most part.

I spent about six hours in Raph’s parents’ Prius. It wasn’t exciting in any way shape or form, but I didn’t hate it.

So, is that just sad, or full of impotent rage-frustration to the point of wanting to physically destroy stuff?
I don’t know.. I’ve driven a Prius a few times, and it doesn’t seem like the kind of car to elicit enough emotion from anyone to compare to a full on goalie tantrum. It wasn’t particularly good, nor was it particularly annoying, it just sort of.. was.
I suppose driving it on the highway with no cruise control when I’d forgotten to turn eco-mode off was kind of annoying. That left what felt like 3-4mm of throttle input between “oh, we’re losing speed now” and “ALL THE HAMSTERS MUST BE ENGAGED!! GO HAMSTERS, GO!!”

What needs to happen is a Toyota Prius GTS .
Like that, but with a 300-hp V6 off a Camry in place of a V8, plus 50hp from the hybrid, about 2700 lbs thanks to monocoque construction. More restrained aero with a pop-up wing, but because of the minimal drag deficit, I think it’ll crack 205 mph no problem.

But the mpgs.

My sister has a Prius. I rode in the back for a few hours. That aspect wasn't too bad, really.

Yeah, that’s about the essence of Prius. I think the ideal vanity plate would be “MEH” or “EHITSOK”

6'3", no problem here.

Weird, I’m the same height as you and I felt claustrophobic in that car.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind having a Prius for my daily drive to/from work every day. No car could make that route fun or exciting, and it’s killing my fuel economy in my Outback (17 mpg). A simple A-B car that gets the best economy possible would be perfect for that route.

Well, I don’t think there was a whole lot of extra room, but the driving position was at least adequate enough that it didn’t bother me, which isn’t always the case with small Japanese cars (for reference: I learned to drive on an early 90's Sentra - my knees still hurt thinking about it).
Say what you will about old German cars breaking in strange and entertaining ways, but dammit, they’re always a nice place to sit.

Makes sense. I think the Prius I was using burned just about exactly half the fuel the M3 would use for a typical trip to a neighbouring town (assuming very restrained M3 usage). Once I’d figured out to turn off eco-mode, it wasn’t even bad to drive on the highway. Good little runabout.

Most depressing spaceship ever.

The later Prius have this Captain Kirk Enterprise center console that’s butt-ugly. My brother-in-law’s early Prius only gets like 40 mpg and it uses a bunch of oil. 250k miles tho.
I like the Ford Fusion Hybrid much better.

You got the crack part right.

Not an uncomfortable car.

Oh, lest I forget: hydraulic power steering, three chassis modes only, but four drive modes are fine (electric-only, Prius, Sport, and Attack).
![]() 05/13/2016 at 01:03 |

Don’t be like that. You know that a Prius R, done right, will be the greatest car in the world.

Oh; Attack Mode. It's all good then.
![]() 05/13/2016 at 01:16 |

Wow. I’m surprised you didn’t question that mode.

Ludicrous Mode was already taken.

I hate the prius. That said, if you can’t turn :( into :) you aren’t driving it hard enough.

It’s gutless.

Yea my sister has the Prius Plugin and my mom just ended her lease on a ‘13 Fusion Energi. The Energi got better mileage, more comfortable, and much better interior + fit and finish. Now she rocks a regular 1.5L EcoBoost Fusion

Yea the back seat is pretty spacious but dat road noise

Meh I only get 40-42 in it

Dude, drive one for 6 years. We had a 2010 that I used to drive a lot and then my sister traded it in for a ‘14 Plugin.

So keep it flat to the boards wherever you can and see how much gas it’ll burn. Drive everywhere with the handbrake on. Drift every corner. Neutral drop all the things.
PROTIP: Don’t do the last one in the rain while loaded. I used to drift our Montana all over the place. I miss that thing.

That’s double what I get so.....

I put a thousand miles on a Fusion Hybrid last summer and I was really impressed with it. I found the driving position to be especially comfortable. You could sit in a hot parking lot with the AC on and the engine only ran about 1/3 of the time. I don’t remember the number, but I think it was like 30 mpg. And the Fusion isn’t a bad
looking
car, either.

Yeah, you aren’t kidding. The road noise is surprising. But, as long as you can hear the direction of the police sirens that are chasing you, I guess it's not actually a hindrance.
